Remove Annotations
Remove comments, highlights, and markup notes from the document.

Instant Local Processing
Zero latency local computation directly in your browser session.
Same-Page Workflow
Re-run operations repeatedly without losing your active tool workspace.
Review comments, highlights, strikeouts and freehand drawings are stored as annotation objects layered over the page rather than as part of the page itself. This tool removes them in bulk and leaves the underlying content exactly as it was.
It is the fastest way to turn a marked-up working copy back into a clean document for distribution.
How it works
- 1Load the annotated PDF. Annotations across all pages are detected.
- 2Choose what to remove. Clear everything, or restrict removal to specific annotation kinds.
- 3Download the clean copy. Page content is untouched; only the annotation layer is gone.
When you need it
- Producing a clean final version after a round of review
- Removing a previous reader's highlights before circulating a document
- Stripping comments that should not leave the organisation
Frequently asked questions
- Does this remove form fields too?
- No. Form fields are a different kind of object and are left alone. Use Flatten PDF if you want their values baked into the page.
- Will the highlighted text disappear?
- No — only the coloured overlay. The text underneath is part of the page and remains.
- What about a signature added elsewhere?
- A signature placed as page content stays. One added as a stamp annotation is removed with the rest.
- Are my documents uploaded anywhere?
- No. Every tool in PDF41 runs inside your browser tab using WebAssembly and JavaScript. Your file is read from disk into memory, processed locally, and handed back as a download. It is never transmitted to a server, so there is nothing to intercept, retain, or delete afterwards.
- Does this work without an internet connection?
- Yes, once the page has loaded. The PDF engine, fonts and character maps are all served from this site rather than a third-party CDN, so an unstable connection or a locked-down corporate network does not stop the tool from working.
