Same-Page Workflow

Splitting cuts one PDF into several. You can name explicit page ranges — say 1-3, 4-9, 10 — or ask for every page to become its own file.
Each range produces its own document. When there is more than one, the results are delivered together in a ZIP archive rather than being silently concatenated back into a single file.
How it works
- 1Load the document. The page count is read so ranges can be validated before anything is produced.
- 2Describe the split. Type ranges such as 1-4, 5, 6-12, or choose to burst every page into a separate document.
- 3Download. One range gives one PDF; several ranges give a ZIP containing one PDF per range.
When you need it
- Separating the chapters of a manual for distribution to different teams
- Extracting one invoice from a monthly batch print
- Cutting an oversized filing into parts that fit a portal upload limit
- Bursting a mail-merge output into one file per recipient
Frequently asked questions
- What happens if I type an invalid range?
- The expression is validated and you are told exactly what is wrong. It never quietly falls back to producing page one.
- Do I get one file or several?
- One document per range. Two or more ranges are zipped together so nothing is lost in the download.
- Can I split by file size instead?
- Yes — use Split by Size, which targets a maximum megabyte figure per part.
- Are my documents uploaded anywhere?
- No. Every tool in PDF41 runs inside your browser tab using WebAssembly and JavaScript. Your file is read from disk into memory, processed locally, and handed back as a download. It is never transmitted to a server, so there is nothing to intercept, retain, or delete afterwards.
- Does this work without an internet connection?
- Yes, once the page has loaded. The PDF engine, fonts and character maps are all served from this site rather than a third-party CDN, so an unstable connection or a locked-down corporate network does not stop the tool from working.
