Cropping trims the visible area of a page. Scanner borders, oversized margins and the black edge left by photographing a book all disappear, and what remains fills more of the sheet when printed.
The content outside the crop is hidden rather than deleted, which is worth knowing: cropping improves presentation, it does not remove information from the file.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the cropped-away content really gone?
- No. Cropping changes the visible boundary; the underlying content still exists in the file and could be revealed by changing the crop again. Where the content is sensitive, redact it properly rather than cropping.
- Can I crop different pages differently?
- Yes. Apply one crop to all pages or set them individually.
- Does cropping reduce file size?
- Barely, because the content is retained. Compress PDF is the tool for size.
- Are my documents uploaded anywhere?
