A watermark stamps text or a logo across every page — DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, a client name, a copyright line. You control the position, rotation, size, colour and opacity, so it can sit boldly across the middle or discreetly in a corner.
The stamp becomes part of the page content rather than an annotation, which means it prints, survives flattening, and cannot be switched off in a reader.
How it works
- 1Load the document. The watermark is applied to every page unless you restrict the range.
- 2Design the stamp. Type your text or upload a logo, then set rotation, size, colour and opacity.
- 3Apply and download. The stamp is drawn into each page's content.
When you need it
- Marking a circulated version as a draft so it is not mistaken for final
- Adding a client name to a proposal to discourage forwarding
- Branding a report with a company logo before distribution
- Labelling a document as a copy for an audit trail
Frequently asked questions
- Can a watermark be removed later?
- Not by switching it off — it is page content, not an overlay. Keep an unwatermarked original if you will need one.
- Will it obscure the text underneath?
- Lower the opacity. A watermark at fifteen to twenty per cent is clearly legible without competing with the document.
- Can I watermark only some pages?
- Yes, restrict the page range before applying.
- Are my documents uploaded anywhere?
- No. Every tool in PDF41 runs inside your browser tab using WebAssembly and JavaScript. Your file is read from disk into memory, processed locally, and handed back as a download. It is never transmitted to a server, so there is nothing to intercept, retain, or delete afterwards.
- Does this work without an internet connection?
- Yes, once the page has loaded. The PDF engine, fonts and character maps are all served from this site rather than a third-party CDN, so an unstable connection or a locked-down corporate network does not stop the tool from working.
